Description
Light:
Monstera deliciosa thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate medium light, but lower light will produce smaller leaves with fewer splits. Avoid harsh, direct sun which can scorch the leaves.
Watering:
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil is dry. Monsteras prefer consistent moisture but not soggy soil. Ensure the pot has drainage holes and empty excess water from the tray.
In winter, reduce watering slightly as growth slows.
Soil & Potting:
Use a chunky, well-draining mix — ideal is potting soil mixed with bark, perlite, and peat. Monsteras like oxygen around the roots.
Repot every 1–2 years or when roots begin to circle the pot.
Temperature & Humidity:
Prefers 18–28 °C. Keep away from cold drafts and heaters.
Loves high humidity, but also does well in normal household humidity. Mist occasionally or place near other plants for higher humidity.
Fertilization:
Feed once a month in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser.
Do not fertilise in winter.
Support & Growth Habit:
Monstera is a natural climber. Providing a coco pole or moss pole will encourage larger, fenestrated (split) leaves.
Wipe leaves occasionally to remove dust and keep them glossy.
