Description
Ficus lyrata, commonly known as the Fiddle Leaf Fig, is a highly sought-after indoor plant famous for its large, glossy, violin-shaped leaves and bold, upright growth habit. It brings strong architectural structure to any room, making it a favourite for interior décor, designer spaces, and modern homes.
This plant thrives in bright, indirect light. It loves a well-lit spot near a window but should be protected from harsh, direct sunlight that can scorch the leaves. Low light will slow growth and may cause leaf drop, so bright positions are best.
Water when the top layer of soil is dry, keeping the plant slightly moist but never soaked. Consistent overwatering can lead to root rot, while underwatering can cause brown edges or leaf drop. A well-draining potting mix is essential.
The Fiddle Leaf Fig prefers warm, stable temperatures and does not like sudden changes, cold drafts, or being moved around too often. Increase humidity where possible—especially indoors during dry seasons—to keep the leaves healthy and glossy.
Feed every 2–3 weeks during spring and summer using a balanced indoor plant fertiliser. Wipe the leaves regularly to remove dust and help the plant absorb more light.
With the right care, Ficus lyrata becomes a striking indoor tree that adds height, drama, and a sophisticated tropical feel to any space.
Perfect for living rooms, offices, studios, and feature corners where a strong statement plant is needed.
