Description

String of Watermelon (Sedum hernandezii) is a charming trailing succulent known for its plump, rounded leaves marked with subtle striping that resembles miniature watermelons. Its cascading growth makes it an excellent choice for hanging planters, high shelves, or anywhere a soft, trailing texture is needed.

This succulent thrives in bright light, ideally with a few hours of gentle morning sun. Indoors, position it near a bright window to maintain its compact shape and vibrant colouring. Insufficient light may cause stretching and weak growth.

Water lightly and allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Like many succulents, String of Watermelon stores moisture in its leaves and is sensitive to overwatering. A fast-draining succulent or cactus mix is essential to prevent root rot.

It prefers warm temperatures and good airflow. Reduce watering significantly during winter when the plant naturally slows its growth. A light monthly feeding with diluted succulent fertiliser during spring and summer will encourage fuller, healthier growth.

With proper care, String of Watermelon produces lush, cascading strands that bring character and charm to any indoor plant collection. A perfect option for plant lovers who enjoy unique, decorative trailing succulents.
