Description
Light:
Philodendron ‘Hope’ performs best in bright, indirect light. It tolerates medium light too, but avoid strong direct sunlight — too much direct sun can scorch the leaves.
Watering:
Water when the top 2–5 cm of soil is dry. Give a thorough drink — water until it drains out of the bottom, then empty any excess from the saucer. Let soil dry out slightly before watering again. Overwatering or soggy soil can lead to root-rot.
Soil & Potting:
Use a well-draining, airy potting mix — a blend of potting soil, perlite or bark works well to ensure moisture retention without waterlogging.
If you repot, go only one pot size up; avoid oversized pots that hold too much water.
Temperature & Humidity:
Keep indoors in warm, stable temperatures between about 18–27 °C.
This philodendron appreciates moderate to high humidity. If your home is dry (especially in winter), occasional misting, a pebble tray, or grouping with other plants helps.
Fertilization:
During the growing season (spring & summer), feed monthly with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser diluted to half strength. Reduce or stop fertilising in autumn/winter when growth slows.
